I've got nine in .45 ACP (both autos and revolvers), closely followed by .38 Special and .357 Magnum.

I also like oddball calibers, owning a .41 Magnum, a .32 H&R Magnum, a .38 Super, and three 10mm Autos (two are actually revolvers. :D )

Kinda strange, right now 10mm is lagging behind .41 magnum.
And everything has at least two votes except 357SIG (none).
I would have never expected that.

I think part of the problem is that favorite and number owned may not turn out to be the same. I have more 9mm handguns than any of the other calibers, but my favorite to shoot is the 38special followed closely by the 45acp revolvers.

I guess I'm joe average with more .45acps than anything else :seven. .38 Special near at 6, .357 and .22 at 5 each .................ect:)

Am I the only 44 Special fan left? You didn't even include it in your poll. And what about my 32's, both H&R mag and S&W long? Had to vote for my 41 Magnums, which actually come in second in my collection.

Well, it's not my favorite caliber...

...but somehow I've obtained several .38 Special revolvers. It just worked out like that. My gun collection really has no theme. I just like to shoot. However, I have plans to buy a new revolver in another caliber soon. My 1894C Marlin is in .357 mag and it just seems right that I purchase a .357 mag revolver to go with it.

Sorry for not including your favorites.
I left out many calibers to keep this poll on track.
I left out .454 casull, etc. so that magnumitis wouldn't rear it's ugly head.
(My gun is bigger than your gun.) This has been shown in the past to throw polls waaaay off their intended course.

I left out .32 H&R magnum on purpose because it's newer, the 'old timers' can't say they have been shooting it for 20+ years with good results.
It simply hasn't been around that long.
.357 magnum/.38 special +p can both do what the little magnum can do, but do it better.

I left out all other calibers smaller than 9mm, because of the number of mouse guns that are 'carried much, shot little'.
In other words, they aren't shot for pleasure, but for serious practice in maintaining their familiarity with their carry piece.

I didn't leave out .44 special for any purpose, but I simply didn't know where to draw the line.
I would have to include things like .44 russian, and older stuff, as well.
Also, the only .44 special I have owned personally is the charter arms bulldog 'pug'.
Let's just say I lumped it in with mouseguns from personal experience and leave it at that.
I'm sorry that I didn't include it, I just needed to draw the line somewhere.

caz223 - sorry, I didn't mean for my post to sound quite so whiney. I do think that 44 special should have been included due to it's long history, maybe include it with the 44 Magnum. I understand that the line has to be drawn somewhere, and your reasoning with the other calibers is good, but maybe all the 32's could have been lumped into one catagory and everything else could have been grouped in "mouse gun" and "big magnum" categories.
The results are interesting so far, 45 ACP, 38 + 357 and 9mm basically all being about the same.

The answer to your question "most guns in which caliber" would be .357mag with three. Close second with two each would be .38spl and 9mm.

In the body of your post you ask for favorite one or two. Well, that would be different. In revolvers it is easily .357mag but in autos my favorite is a tie between 9mm and .45acp (you'd think from some of the "caliber wars" that you need to make a choice between these two, am I the only one who won't?).

I would like to give a few of the more obscure and/or popular calibers a shot (pun inteneded) to see what I think though. I really hope to get a .41mag before too long and I've been thinking about a 10mm (two sort of obscure calibers), and I will give .45LC (popular) a try.

.44 Specials

CMcDermott,

Never fear, you are not alone !!!! .44 Specials are amazing, and work well, especially in S&W's. Amazingly easy to handload, from powderpuff to Magnum, in good revolvers. A great general purpose round. :D

I've heard of Ruger Speed Sixes converted to five shot Specials, something I'd like to have. And there some of Smith's 696's out there. And if I was into Single Actions, a Colt SAA in .44 Special would have my interest.

I would be hard put to choose between my favorite .357 & .44 Special, but either would serve me well....

Hey, this is a fun round, but so are a lot of others like the (take your choice). I'd probably not worry about it this time ;)..... I'd like to see more folks using .44 Specials, but then again that would drive up the price of those used Smith's I drool over  ............ The most important thing is probably to be safe when shooting and vote to keep this possible. Best.
