I picked up a really nice, older (1956) Marlin 39A a few weeks ago and decided to try a Williams Peep sight on it instead of a scope. It's the "cheaper" one, at around $36.

The sight arrived from Midway promptly as always, but the nice folks at Williams seem to assume that I'll just figure out how to mount it step by step and adjust it all by myself. The back of the package instructions were a little (a lot) vague and have no illustrations.

I'm a little worried about stripping out the aluminum base losing a small part and screwing the whole thing up.

I couldn't find any You Tube videos and Larry Potterfield seems more focused on his latest antique rifle project for his video library these days.

Anyone do a Williams install on a 39A or a 336?

How hard can it be?

Loosen the elevation slide clamp screw.
Pull the slide out of the sight base.

One screw goes under there, and the other screw goes in the other hole.

Tighten them tight, then put the elevation slide back on.

You will need to go shoot it to sight it it.
