Shot my first wild pig. Sonoma County area of North California.
165-170lb. Shot with my Remington 870 20ga with rifled slugs.
She was running balls to the walls down a steep hill about 25 yards from me.
She came out of some manzanita brush like a bat out of hell. Dropped her hard and fast. Then took about an hour dragging her back down the canyon to where my buddies helped skin and gut her. Took it to the butcher that day and my brother-in-law and I split the meat. Pork chops are going on the BBQ tonight.

Nice! Those little suckers sure can run.
I went hog hunting yesterday and came home empty handed  They were bedded down in thickets and not moving around very much. We got up at 4AM and were out until about 5 that afternoon. Next time I'm going to go at dusk, when they seem to be more active this time of year.

Thanks. This was the first time I got to go "Pig Hunting" every other time I've been "Pig Hiking" just like BullsEye10x said. Up early, home late with nothing but good memories and tired feet. It was nice to finally bring home THE BACON!

Congrats, nice lookin' meat pig. I hunted in Sonoma County several times in 80's. We used a canoe to access swampy areas of Lake Sonoma (reservoir).
