I stopped in at Wal Mart today to check on .22 ammo. I was surprised at the amount of ammo they had! They had eight 500 round packs of Winchester XPERT HV for $13.97 per box. There was another guy there and he was also buying .22 and asked me if I was also there for .22; and I said yes - if there's any left. So, he asked me if I'd like to just split those 8 boxes in half; and I said sure- thanks! Otherwise he would have bought all of them. There were also plenty of CCI mini mags for $5.43 each (100 count).

They had lots of rifle ammo (most of it Winchester). But, no 300 wsm or .223. The must have just received a shipment from Winchester, because that's just all the brands they had except for some Federal stuff. But, they had no .357 or .38 Special.

Well they sure didn't have much 22 once you two left. I like the xpert hv. Good stuff. I'd have bought a couple boxes too.

No pistol ammo at Walmart

I was in Walmart 2 days ago and went to the sporting section to check out the ammo availability. Gone was the 9mm, .308, .357 Mag, .44 Mag, and 45ACP. This was Fredericksburg, Virginia. They had rifle ammo.
They had a gun show and the cashier told me the vendors often hit Walmart first, then resell it at the show for a nice profit.
Seems everyone is still fearful of this administration. For good reason, I think!

no hand gun ammo @ walmart here, not much for rifle. picked up 400 rounds of 9mm @ the local gun shop. he had some 45 & 38 - no 380 anywhere in town. he has no expectations on when he'll get more of anything.

So, he asked me if I'd like to just split those 8 boxes in half; and I said sure- thanks!

It's nice to hear about firearm owners being considerate of each other. It's really crappy how the whole gun scene is so vicious, it seems like everyone is only looking out for themselves these days.

I've been trying to pick up some 9mm Winchester white box at the local WallyWorld for the past 10 weeks (no exaggeration). I stopped in today in the early afternoon to get some odds and ends and, lo and behold, they had received a shipment of ammo in this morning. I picked up the last three boxes of 9mm. The .32 and the .380 already were gone; the Federal bulk .22 was gone as well. They still had some .45 and plenty of .40 S&W.

According to the clerk, "As soon as it comes in, we're sold out -- every time."

I really like the Winchester Xpert HV .22 stuff too. I even liked the old Xperts in the white box although, I know some didn't.

As for 9mm our local Wal-Mart must have gotten 50 boxes in. I don't know if it was quite that many but it was quite a few. I bet at least 30 if not more. I went back 3 or 4 days later and they still had some left but not many. I think they had 3 or 4 boxes left.

This was the Winchester white box ammo. I just noticed it as I was checking out what they had instock.

.22 ammo and shotgun shells seems to be all they have much of and the .22 ammo they seem to only have certain kinds at a time.

I had never even seen that Winchester XPuRt (or however they mis-spell it) stuff before, but I picked up a brick the other day too. Good to hear it's decent stuff, as I probably won't even get to it for a year or two. :)

I went looking for 9mm, .45, and .223 the other day, and left with the .22LR, Federal 12 gauge 00 Buck, Slugs, and Birdshot. Not my plan, but I'll take it. :)

I've been talking to the redhead behind the counter several times and around my 4th time in she said wait a minute and she'd see if the truck came in. She came back out with one case of Fed bulk 22lr. I'm now the proud owner of one case of 22lr Fed bulk.
See, ya just need to be pinching the right behinds!Mike

I bought two boxes of 50 rnd WWB 40 caliber at Wal Mart today @18.95 per box. That is $6 over what I paid about two weeks ago. Just think in 2002 100 rnds of .40 cal was $9.50. If I only fire 200 rounds per month thru each of my 5 SD/HD weapons I have enough to last over two years.

I'm so glad I bought about 20,000 rounds of the 550 bulk packs before they all went poof, I haven't seen any in months at the 'mart that I bought it from.

I dropped into the local Wal-mart today, mainly because my girlfriend works there and I was picking her up for lunch. Afterwards, I dropped by the ammo counter and discovered they had five boxes of 550-ct. Federal .22($13.97), as well as five or six boxes of 100-rd Winchester 9mm($19.97).

I only bought one of each, but as I was walking away, an older guy came up to the counter and promptly snagged two of the remaining Federal .22 bulk packs. I'm guessing I timed that just right.

Oh, they did have four boxes of Federal bulk .223, 200-ct. boxes($76.97). Wanted to get another of those, but couldn't afford it.

I try to hit the three nearby WallyWorlds around where I live, but it is kind of strange to see that when they have ammo in, that there is a price difference on the same item. Usually it's just a dollar or two, but the Federal bulk .22s, the WWB 9mm., and the Blazer Brass 9mm. all have different prices. Maybe it's because the three stores are each in a different county; perhaps someone with WallyWorld expertise could comment on that. Actually I'm happy when I can just find some to buy.

The secret right now on the WalMarts is to check the one closest to you often. I have two that are both 20 minutes away and Im in both at least 3 times a week. I always check the ammo counter and I always find something to buy.

Im stocking up but Im not in freak out mode where I buy everything they have even if I dont have a gun for it.

I spend about $40-$50 a week on average.

It may be that one week I pick up a box of Corelokt .270 and a bulk 500 Federal .22.

Next week in I buy two boxes of 9mm because its there.

Next week I might only buy 2 federal 550 bulk packs or Remington Bulk whatever is there.

The next week its two 100 round boxes of shotgun shells (birdshot)

The next week maybe 2 boxes of 00Buck...

You get the idea. Ive got a good supply right now.

Im also stockpiling food, the wife is kinda in charge of that though.

Ive got a spreadsheet that has the ammo on hand and what Id like to have and the sheet does the math. Tells me what I should buy next.

Same for the food reserves.

Ewwwww!

I haven't entered a Walmart in years. No way I'd spend all my free time at one. Too much to do, too little time. My local pawn shop has all the ammo I need. Just stocked up yesterday.

I quit doing the Walmart-boogie long ago. I have too many other things to spend my time on, than stopping at Walmart every day to see if they have ammo left over from the panic-buyers.
These days; I place back-orders for .380, .32, 9x18, and 7.62x39 online and let the ammo come to me as it gets received and shipped. It is shipped right to my front door, usually for less than Walmart. No need for me to traipse across the city hitting up every Walmart in three counties.
I did stock up awhile back on Federal 550 packs of .22LR, but now I buy bricks of CCI Blazer .22LR at Vance's whenever they are on sale. I get my 9mm (9x19) and sometimes 7.26x39 there also.

Buy my ammo online , whatever cost is involved is far outweighed by the distaste of rubbing shoulders with the hoarder crowd at the Walmart.

My local Wallyworld has been depleted of ammo stocks for months. The only pistol calibers they've had was .40 and .25ACP. Rifle rounds are equally light... .30 carbine and some other oddball rounds.

Other places like Bass Pro Shop only had oddball pistol ammo... .454Casull and .500 S&W. Dicks was a little better with some .357mag, .40, a little .44 &.45acp hydros. Plenty of rifle ammo including .223 (UMC 200 round value pack).
