I purchased a post-recall Springfield XDs (.45). The trigger was adequate for the gun's purpose, but in my mind it was not smooth, and not light at all. In fact, when I tried to measure the trigger weight with a Lyman digital gauge, it maxed out at 12 pounds and I couldn't measure it!
I picked up a Powder River spring kit for it and had a local Gunsmith in the Seattle area (PM me for details if you'd like them) install it. He also polished everything he could, to lighten and smooth the action. That included replacing the striker spring with the lighter Powder River spring.
First range trip was today. The trigger measures at 5 lbs. 2 oz. now, and it's smooth and predictable. 75 rounds of full power FMJ RN and another 20 rounds of Gold Dot to check the function with that bullet profile.
No malfunctions, no jams, no light strikes, no problem at all. I fully recommend the spring kid from Powder River. If you've got an XD, I believe it will really help you out.
