There was a passing of a dear old friend (98 yrs old) recently, and in cleaning out his house to put up for sale, I came across a pistol (I'm strictly a novice at this) and I'd like to share and perhaps find out the origin, age, type of ammo caliber it would utilize if anyone can provide, etc:
A 3" barrel, (5) chamber barrel revolver. It looks almost turn of the century,or at best circa 1920's.
If, in fact, its nickel plated, its pretty well worn.
Its a break barrel pistol
It is hammerless
On the barrel is stamped "National Arms Co"., NY, USA
On the bottom of the hand grip is a serial# in the 10,000 series,
it reads 10 102 5
Thats about all the information I have on this piece. If anyone can give me guidance, information, about when manufactured, is it a worthy piece, etc.
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank-You

Well steviekid, don't know. National Arms Co. was a Trade name used by H&D Folsom ( A large Sporting goods retailer, late 1880s to the 1930s ) on fire arms made by their in house gun co,, Crescent Arms. The problem arises in the fact that Crescent Arms made shotguns , a few 22 rifles ( so they say ) but no where have I ever read that made handguns. The Trade name being the property of H&D, there is no reason they could not have used it on both imported hand guns and/or one of the American companies such as Hopkins and Allen or H&R. With clear pictures of the handgun one of the forum contributors might be able to recognize the maker. PS: for more information than I could possibly type , google Crescent arms Co, and Firearm trade/store brand names.

The Meriden Firearms Company also made a number of guns under the "National Arms Co." name, including some hammerless and exposed-hammer top-breaks; these were all in 3" barrels, with 5-shot cylinders, in 32 and 38 S&W.

Thanks SDC, I wonder if they were made under contract for H&D Folsom and sold under the H&D Trade Name. Clear photos may reveal the truth.

Ron, SDC, Steve here,...Thank-You so very much for getting back to me so quickly! This site is outstanding. I've, (as best as I could) furnished pictures of this revolver. With your expertise, we might be able to determine the
age, type and possibly the manufacturer of this pistol. Again, I Thank-You so very much input.
Steve
PS This site is very cumbersome in downloading pics of the weapon, I was not able to do it,..If you can tell me how I can show the pics of the revolver, please let me know.

Steviekid, if you have the pictures on your computer, there are 2 ways you can attach them to a post; you can "add an attachment" when you're on the "post a reply" page (it gives you this option at the bottom, but it has limits on the size of the photo allowed), or, you can open a free account at a photo-hosting site like photobucket. This lets you save the photos to that site, then post them here by putting
in your post here.
