seems that everyone and their cousin makes a 1911, and you can find tons of different options through each manufacturer as well, but aside from one model of Colt, i havent seen a blued 1911 new

does springfield make a blued 1911, and if so, is it at a decent price?
does another company make a blued 1911 maybe around $600? i can go as high at maybe $800 but thats really pushing it...

i really dont like parkerized finish, and im not a huge fan of stainless steel either (tends to reflect a lot of sunlight and my eyes dont really dig sunlight that much) but my old S&W revolver has an attractive (if quite worn) blued finish that i really like

TIA

ps: finding just the right model of 1911 is proving to be very frustrating D:

Precious few companies acually "blue" guns anymore.

Ruger, Savage, Marlin, Colt, S&W, are only a few I can think of off the top of my head and their blued products are few and far between.

As for 1911s, I can only think of Colt.

Now that I think of it, the American Classic may have been blued.

I never shot one but it appeared to be a solid gun for under 500 dollars at the time.

They have since become more popular so are probably more.

Here is a link to a recent GlockTalk thread discussing blued 1911s. Lots of pictures for you.

Just realize some of them pictured are blued, some are said to be blued but actually are not and some just plain are not blued and the poster says so.

There is a difference between acual bluing, Black T, Melonite, Duracoat, Parkerizing, etc.

American Classic comes in blue should be around 500 Davidson(spelling) has them in stock at present Also blue commanders .
Note I have read where some people refer to the American Classic as also in SS , That isn't stainless its hard chrome

We can help with your American Classic several owners here Myself included.

Springfield Armory used to make blued models, but I don't think they have for a while now.

Another option for you might be to just buy a 1911 in your price range and send it out to be refinished in blue.

STI Trojan is "flat blue" according to the websight, Spartan is parkerized. I've ordered the Trojan from STI's Custom shop sight unseen, having it made to my tastes. Be here in Sept.

I recently bought a Colt 1911 Series 70 reissue. Finish is described as blue. I'm very happy with it as it seems very close to the original design (the versions that served the US military from 1911 through to the mid 80's) and the price is reasonable at $800 or so.

The new Remington R-1 is blued and looks nicely old school without the fat beavertail. Just looked at one at a local sporting goods shop, nice little piece. Price was in the upper 5 hun range, not bad for a 1911...

does remington actually manufacture the R1, or do they just roll their name on it, and if so, who does make it?
I think Remington say they fully assemble it themselves but stop short of stating they manufacture it.

Says right here on Remingtons own R1 site that it is not blue but rather a "Satin black oxide metal finish"

Hate to nitpick but I am really sick of these dark finishes being passed off as real bluing. A Remington R1 is not a blued gun. If it is, then so is a Glock.

Take a look at the Metro Arms American Classic II from the PI. Best fit and finish for the money. Beautiful deep blue and polished flats. Oh yeah, the price is around 450.00
