Hi all,
I have a CPO P229 (no accessory rail) that I would like to buy aftermarket sights for, but I am having an awfully hard time finding something I like.
I am a big fan of the Heinie Ledge straight-8's that I installed recently on my Glock 26, but for some reason I'm not in a hurry to install the similar Slant Pro straight-8s on my P229. This is the only sight Heinie offers for the P229 and unfortunately, it just doesn't seem like a good match for this gun. The P229 slide is rounded across the top instead of being flat like the Glock slide, so it makes for a poor fit aesthetically with the flat extension on the Heinie Slant Pro rear sight. Warren Tactical sights also have this issue.
I thought about giving the Trijicon HD sights a try, but reports are coming in that they shoot low for a lot of people because Trijicon designed them for covering the target with the front dot. This is not going to work for me. Besides, I don't like the idea of photoluminescent paint on the front sight because it requires that I learn a 3rd sight picture for when the paint is charged and glowing.
What I'm really looking for is something like this serrated GI 1911 sight by 10-8:

Does anyone else out there make a similar serrated sight for Sig P-series pistols that won't take up more space than the width of the dovetail mount? This gun is mostly going to be used for having fun at the range and I know the P229 is capable of outstanding accuracy, so I really want to exploit this to the fullest. I'm thinking a plain serrated rear like the 10-8 sight combined with a fiber-optic or tritium front would be just perfect.
Any suggestions or am I SOL?
Thanks!
