Hi folks. I have a Sprinfield MilSpec that I dearly enjoy shooting. I replaced the stock plastic grips with some nice rosewood double-diamond grips. I like the look (I'm vain like that :) ) Anyway, my one complaint is that the 1911 grip is quite narrow, and I have large hands. I installed a long trigger and that seems to help, but are there extra-wide or fatter grips available to give you more of a handful? I have not seen any. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

You can get them custom made by Hakan ( www.imageseek.com/hakan/ ) or you can get a set of nice hogues that fatten the grip a little. Though Hakan comes highly recommended by guys on THR and the CZ forum. Best of luck here is some porn.

With the Hogue grips on my Springfield 1911 Compact, the thing is almost as wide as a glock 30's grip... almost. Too fat for my fiance to hold onto...

Grip Enhancement

It sounds like you have the same problem I have... large hands and a thin single stack grip.

I switched to Hogue finger groove grips for some of my 1911s, but I have one 1911 with a set of customized Alumagrips. For this, I'm using the Pearce Grip 1911 finger groove inserts. It is a set of rubber finger grooves with thin flat panels that screw in underneath your existing grip panels. You get a very slightly wider grip with improved "grab" due to the addition of finger grooves whle keeping your existing grip panels. For $10.00, they are worth a try.

Good luck and good shooting.

If you go to the Hogue site they have 1911 grips made of wood, with palm swells, the side view shows that these grips are thicker in the palm area and are more handfilling, but they still look like traditional wood 1911 grip panels.
