After much reading on the forum about presses I have decided to purchase the Lee Classc Turret, however I am concerned about the setup and poor
instructions and the negetive posts on this, is it really a problem? I am thinking about getting the kit and adding the Auto Disc charge bar and an extra turret. Kempf Gun Shop has a good deal on the kit, including dies.
Comments? Thanks, Floyd

Love my 4 hole turret, the cast is nicer let. I hand prime, because handling each primer sucks. I still use my Lee single stage for some reloading, but the turret presses are worlds ahead, and are still simple:)

floydster, the setup for the press is not difficult. Definitely add the charge bar and if you're using Lee dies, I'd recommend the 4-die sets with the taper crimp dies for pistol cartridges. If you need specific instructions, you can easily get them right here with a simple post.

Thanks guys, I willl be using the Classic mostly for pistol, I am just getting back into loading after a 35 year hiatus, I still have a lot of my old stuff like my ancient CH press, boy things sure have come a log way since I loaded my last round, hehe.

Crimp has it right: the setup is not difficult at all. The only real trick is to learn not to short-stroke the press--that can screw up the indexing ratchet.

Be sure to get the "riser" and the "swivel" for the powder measure, and an adjustable charge bar if these are items are not included in the package somewhere. And, be sure to get one turret for each caliber you will reload. The shell holders will come with the die sets.

Since you are loading for pistol, get the Safety Prime as well, and do get the 4-die configuration. And, you are correct--Kempf's is probably the best place to buy a package, but you should also check Graf's and Wiedener's.

Ask any other questions you want, here; we'll try to help.

While the Lee instructions are a little lacking, they are workable, especially if you have prior experience. If you do have trouble, ask here or ask Lee's CS. Both are very helpful.

I am not happy with adjustable charge bar... very inconsistent compared to the discs.

I just started reloading just days ago, with help from a friend and this forum youll be fine.Loaded my first 300rds yesterday on my 4 hole turett works just fine.

I have been using a Classic Turret for about a year and a half now and think it's a great press. I haven't had a bit of trouble and the ammo it produces is great and consistant. I thought it was very easy to set up. The die setup instructions will come with the die set and I thought those instructions wern't that bad. KempF has the best deal IMO. I would upgrade to the Pro Auto Disk and the Large & Small safety prime. Don't short stroke the press and when you change a turret raise the ram a few inches before you turn it to remove it and you will never have a ratchet problem that you might have read about. If you need any help let us know, we will be happy to help.
