Hi,

I did the search here for info on available mags for the
Marlin Papoose 70pss but found conflicting, or unclear info.

There's the older, wood furniture Marlin Papoose 70ps and the newer Marlin Papoose 70pss. I need to know about the 70pss.

I know it comes with a 7rd mag but need to know if there are higher capacity mags available for the 70pss, NOT the 70p.

Thanks,

Mike

There was a thread in legal a bit back mentioning something about a bump on a newer Papoose preventing it from using the larger capacity magazines. You probably should contact Marlin for clarification.

Yep there is a piece of metal that stops the high capacity mags.
It comes right off with a die grinder and carbide bit in about 20 seconds. Then you can use the high cap mags.
Or so I have been told. ;)

The new factory 10 round mags will fit fine, the older 15 round factory mags will require the bump in the mag well to be removed.

With capacity laws for mags varying from state to state, I guess the safe thing for a manufacturer to do is to include a mag that matches the lowest ammo count anywhere in the US.

Probably not a bad sales tool for selling extra higher cap. mags where legal.

Well I got mine used so I don't know if the "bump" had been removed prior to that. I used the 10-round mags from my 795 from the time I got it with no issues.

I saw 2 25 round mags listed on Gunbroker, but neither said they were factory. One was a Ramline, don't know about the other.
