need parts for a Colt 1917

Am friend of mine has a Colt 1917 that his dad left him. It is missing the firing pin bushing. He really wants to fire it but we cant find he part anywhere. Numerich dosnt have it, we have scoured the internet and gunshows with no luck, we have even tried finding a rusted up junker to scavenge the part from but still nothing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Its part #46 in the exploded diagram.
 
I'm not sure how much interchangability there was in the 1917s. I assume a lot, just like the Garands and Carbines of WW2. It may be worth a try to check out the same part for a S&W model. Maybe even try S&W gunsmith dep., they may even do the work for a reasonable fee.

Like I say, I don't know. But it's worth a try to get the gun running again.

Guillermo may have found a solution :), but in the future model 1917 owners should be made aware that this was a variant of Colt's New Service. Sometime when you are looking for parts you will find them listed under "New Service, rather then "Model 1917."

Incidentally, Smith & Wesson parts made for that company's Model 1917 will not interchange into Colt's. Many parts made for other S&W pre-war N-frame models will work in S&W 1917 revolvers.

I didn't have you in mind.... :)

That post represented one of my helpful hints to those following the thread that might have a problem later. Finding parts for older guns is a chore in itself, so I put out clues.... ;)

You can't be too hard headed - neither of your parents drowned you in the bathtub when they had the chance...
