O.K. So I know I don't post to much on this forum and mainly keep to just observing.

Here are the two emails from "public safety" that were emailed to my school account within the last two weeks.
Safety Alert: Assistance Requested
Physical Assault – On Campus

At approximately 7:25 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2007, a male SCSU student was physically assaulted on campus and the assailant attempted to steal the student’s identification pouch materials. The unidentified attacker approached from behind the victim, struck the victim and knocked him to the ground. The student was able to resist and the subject ran from the scene. The student did receive physical injuries as the result of this assault. [In continuing to work with the victim, it has been determined this incident occurred in the east section of on-campus North H-Parking-Lot, just west of the Riverwalk.]

Public Safety responded, assisted the victim and conducted a campus search throughout that evening for the suspect and the St. Cloud Police Department was contacted and assisted the victim.

The male attacker is described as being a white male, 5’9” to 5’10”, stocky build, curly blonde hair, wearing blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt with the wording “BillaBong” imprinted on the back.

If you have any information that may assist in investigation of this crime, please contact the St. Cloud Police Department-“911” for emergencies; or, (320) 251-1200 (non-emergencies). Refer to Police Report #07050589. You may also contact Public Safety (320) 308-3333, for assistance.

To reduce your risk of becoming a victim while walking at night, please

· Avoid walking alone & stay in well-lighted areas whenever possible

· Use more commonly traveled walking routes both on and off-campus, avoid alleys and isolated areas.

· Walk at a constant pace and remain aware of your surroundings; do not wear headphones or talk on your cell phone while walking.

St. Cloud State Students:

This broadcast e-mail is sent to you to provide accurate information about an incident which happened on campus early Saturday morning.

There was an altercation among several individuals in Holes Hall just after midnight. The initial report indicated a male claimed to have a firearm but did not display one. The St. Cloud police responded quickly to a call and arrested a male who is not a student at St. Cloud State University. The investigation revealed no firearms were involved. The person has been issued a no-trespass order from the SCSU campus.

St. Cloud State University has posted fliers in the residence halls, Atwood and Garvey Commons which provide additional information.

I just got done with a meeting with our Hall adviser, the person that runs the dorm, and I come to find a NERF gun that has been confiscated. I'm thinking what the heck? I asked her about it because I was just "shot" last night with it coming back to my room from getting pizza. Her response to why it was taken was "We are very serious about stuff like that after Virginia Tech." I thought what the (you can figure out that word)!!! Our world must be so jacked up that even a Nerf "gun" has to be confiscated because someone could get the idea to get a real firearm and do the same thing? What crap. . .

As far as the other reports. Our campus doesn't allow firearms on it CCW or not. It is ridiculous and both problems could have met a happier end (especially the second story) if the surrounding people where armed or if at least one person had a firearm.:cuss:

College Emergency Alerts

I work for a college and every since the VA Tech tragedy the school has put in an emergency alerting system that student can sign up for. Should a mass shooting or other "incident" occur all students signed up will get a email and text message to their cell phone.

Back when I was a student (Y2k) one day there was a paintball gun battle in my dorm room. I didn't partake in it, I just witnessed the aftermath. If you ever played the Game Goldeneye for N64, the students shot up the bathroom and left paint all over the place (even the stalls). And the students that did the shooting actually got away with it. It was not even mentioned by the school. That was Pre-911 though so these days they installed cameras all over the place and the students would probably be caught and expelled.

Collegeis a world unto it's own. It was different when I went to college20 years ago, and it will be even more different 20 years from now.

Transfer to Hillsdale College in Michigan, they are VERY pro gun. The student body is asking for concealed carry AND open carry those too young to CCW.

Paintball guns and airsoft guns here are now considered the same as weapons. The reason, though, is that dorms were being destroyed by those who didn't realize where you could and couldnt play.

A few idiots ruined it for everyone.
