here and there
Hi, I was doing my first thorough cleaning/strip-down of my 1911 (Colt S70). Everything came apart easy enough (don't they always), but putting it together took a few tries plus watching numerous how-to videos. In the process however, my sear spring got lodged in a weird manner, so I was forced to pry it out and break it. No biggie, just order a new one. I bought a Colt sear spring off Brownells, and it appears identical to the old one, minus the wear (I've put about 400 rounds through it so far). Installed the new spring, put it back together, and everything functions perfectly. Safety is good, sear works, disconnect, everything.

BUT, the sear spring sounds louder than before. I half-stripped it to see it in action, and I THINK the sear spring is just engaging with more alacrity (trigger break is slightly cleaner but a touch heavier, while hand cycling produces that louder noise while the sear engages the hammer). Did I assemble the thing back wrong, or is the noise purely due to the new spring? I haven't fired it yet, and I can't remember how cocking it should sound like from before.

Help guys? Also let me know if I'm screwing up something majorly, or if my description is totally whack. Thanks!
