New 44's

The Colt is a new production, which isn’t bad in and of itself. But the Smith, with its target hammer and target trigger, feels so crisp and smooth.

I picked up a Columbian National Police Official Police, also in January, but it doesn’t quit fit in with these two gorgeous ladies. December saw me bring home several S&W’s, maybe January is the month of Colt?

I've started 2023 off on an aggressive note. I picked up a new Colt 6" Anaconda and a S&W Model 29-2 8 & 3/8". And they are sweeeet shooters.
I love the S&W, very nice condition. Colts are fine, too, but I'm a S&W guy. Do you know the age of that Smith? The dash-2 was made for 20 years, 1962-1982. I've got a nickel 6" made in 1979.

I don’t like the way a colt feels or functions, but the vent-rib barrel is a very very nice touch that seriously helps me with sighting. There aren’t many other companies doing that, and the ones that are don’t do it nearly as well as Colt. The best gun I have ever found with that regard is a Taurus 689 which feels and functions like a S&W but has the well done rib of a Colt. It’s like a factory built Smolt. I think you got the best of both worlds there, and it’s a shame that there isn’t a really good blend of the two out there to be had.

I believe it was born in 1971.

I'm pretty sure you've violated some serious rules by having a Colt and S&W in the same picture! :D

Great catch, though. I'm definitely jealous

It's not like I have a Ford with a Chevy engine in it!

I found myself in a position to where I was able, so I decided to leap at some dream guns. Well, the new model Anaconda is a "good 'nuff" situation I suppose.

Nice! I was going to ask why you needed two in the same caliber, then I realized that was a silly question.

Good luck with your new guns!

Never owned a Colt revolver (but I've shot a couple), I'm a S&W fan, but there's no denying they're gorgeous!

I also had a Columbian Policia National Colt, though mine was an Army Special which had been fitted with a full barrel lug, S&W adjustable rear sights and a dangerously bad trigger job....
Unfortunately, the lockwork wasnt salvageable and it ended up being parted out. :(

I'm actually putting an Army Special back together right now. I needed a new latch spring guide, now it's all coming together...

I'm sure the Colt got an ego boost from being in the same picture with the ORIGINAL .44 Magnum.

It sure did! That 29 is what 44 mag's are all about and it oozes character. The new Colt is sort of just a characterless machine, but it has it's own charm in an efficient, mediocre trigger sort of way.

I've read the New Colt Anaconda had a great trigger but it resulted in the occasional light strike on non-Federal primers so they increased the main spring.

More reliable but sacrificed the pull a bit.

My new KC gave me just one light strike on a non-Federal primer. Now only reload its ammo with Federal primers.

I don't mind because the trigger is wonderful!

Looking forward to a 4-ish inch Anaconda .44 or 8-shot .357. But it needs that light trigger like my KC.

Yes they are sweet shooters.

For a long time I had no use for the 8-3/8" S&W revolvers until I bought a Model 25-5 about 8 years ago. I've gotten hooked on long barreled revolvers.

I bought a 6" Anaconda and then decided I needed an 8".

I also have an 8-3/8" Model 29. Both 8"+ revolvers are sweet to shoot as you have discovered.

Nice! Unless the S&W is an outlier - or has been fooled with - that SA trigger should be utter perfection.

The new Colts are intriguing. I don't have as much experience with DA Colts as I would like. Please let us know how it works out!

I have two new production Anacondas (6" and 8") and a new production 6" Python and I'm pleased with them. The single action trigger is comparable or better than an N-frame S&W revolver. Also, the Colt pistols weigh a bit more than the equivalent S&W revolves which makes the Colt recoil feel a bit less. Of course, the extra weight has its detractions as well.

I like S&W revolvers and the Colt Anaconda and Python are the first Colt revolvers I have owned. I'm happy with them. Time will tell if the Colts will have a good long term reliability.

The Colts are pricey though.
