Hello All !

I am a new member here at THR and look forward to conversing with all of you in the near future. The first question I have is, can someone tell me the difference in the Savage model 10FP in .308 and the 12FV in .308 ?
Both have the same looking bolt design, both have heavy barrels and they look alike except for the stock. I picked up a new 12FV today and plan on using this as a base to build off of. I was really looking for the Rem. 700 PSS in .308, but lack of $$ led me to the Savage.

Considering I have AK's, M1, SKS Wim 94 and an assortment of other firearms, I have never owned a bolt action precision rifle. I hope I didn't waste money on the Savage ??

Also if anyone owns the Savage 12FV please post your likes - dislikes about the gun, I would appreciate it !

PS: I'm gonna try to post a pic, not real good at it

Thanks

Dog

welcome aboard - but no savages for me, either - just remingtons, or, mostly rems, anyway.

lots of savage love on this board, though. the posse will be along momentarily, especially since i dropped the r-bomb (remington) for ya. you're welcome.

Welcome to THR! Enjoy! :D

I don't have any Savage rifles either, mine are Remington 700P's, but if I were going to get a Savage, it would be the 10FPLE series. More stock options that way(McMillanbeing the best, IMO).

I believe that besides the stock options, the main difference is finish.
Just about everybody you hear from that got one is quite pleased with the accuracy.

Impossible to do, IMHO of course. :) It's rare that someone comes along and offers a product that beats the heck out of the bigger guys and at such a lessor price. The ability to switch between various barrels and magazines is a bonus for a born tinkerer like me. Mine is the 10FP in .223, but all the short action guns share the same recievers, triggers, etc. I'll get another Savage in .300 WSM to keep this one company next year. Here's THE forum for Savage/Stevens info, it just got restarted after thier old server ditched them and they lost all the old posts but these guys know Savages. http://www.savageshooters.net/forum/index.php?sid=bd0fcbeebfbe4b8abda0cedb327a34d5

You will not be dissapointed, nor have you wasted your $$$. Savage makes very good quality rifles for budget pricing.
