So, I thought the XDM 9 would be a step up for me for IPSC production division competition.
But there's a glitch. I discovered how "un-friendly" those XDM magazine base pads are. My mag tool's point does not fit in the tiny hole. And, instead of having a plate to push against with a button to engage the base pad, there's a small weal formed into the spring that engages the base pad. WHich means, you've got to get the spring pushed down into the magazine and hold it there while you get the rather soft plastic base pads to match up with the tangs on the magazine base. I keep my finger nails short already. But, I still managed to rip a nail trying to do this.
This combined with bringing a new gun to a match meant a very frustrating day for me. I was so wishing I'd had the smarts to bring my trusty old CZ 75B.
Why would Springfield design a pistol with no mag brake (for combat reloads) and then make magazines that are hard to disassemble/re-assemble for cleaning?
