New York City wants to be a state!

So, based on what SeaWolf posted, it can happen, if the NYS legislature and congress approve it...

I would say go for it, but the NYC members of the NYS legislature are not that stupid... they would have no one else to leech off but the federal government.

Well, You've heard about the movie "Dumb and Dumber"........

BTW, and I'm certainly not bragging about this, but how many of you guys knew that BROOKLYN is actually on Long Island?

And just for the record, New York City is already a state. A state of stupidity. Most of us are not here by choice, but because of family ties, job necessities and various other reasons. Whenever I'm out of town whether job related, vacation or whatever and someone asks where I'm from, I always tell them Long Island and not New York. This way I get treated better. It's amazing the bad reputation New Yorkers have and very well deserved.

But living on Long Island as I have all my life is not much better than NYC these days, believe me.

Can't wait 'til I'm outta here!!!:banghead:

Safe shooting.

Yes Robby, Brooklyn and Queens are technically "on" Long Island. But since the incorporation of the City Of New York, Long Island has typically referred to Nassau and Suffolk.

I'm about 20-30 minutes west of you along Sunrise Hwy... I would be gone in a heartbeat if I could leave behind my family and my job.

But if I leave, who is going to fix this place? Like it or not, NY has to fall in line and respect the constitution just like the other 49 states. Those of us who live here in actually care about living safely need to band together and fix these silly laws.

[edit: Robey != Robby. Sorry]

Maybe we can just talk Connecticut into annexing NYC. Or maybe PA. Then NY State could exercise its own politics.

All well & good to say "let 'em go," but are you really prepared to lose 12 of your 29 House seats?

YES!!!

NYC out-votes the rest of NYS, rendering the rest of the state impotent. Let 'em go - how can I help?
