Hi guys! So my Uncle has a Norinco 1911 and he wants to sell it and I have always loved 1911's so I want to buy it but there is a part missing. It makes something come out below the barrel. I think its the barrel bushing. If anybody has or knows about Norinco 1911's please help! Where can I buy parts?
 
All standard 1911 components will fit. I believe you're thinking of the link and link pin, if it's the part that goes on the bottom of the barrel and attaches to the slide lock pin. Make your way over to midwayusa.com and pick one up. Get yourself both a link and a pin for good measure.

Look at a schematic, they can be found at midway and brownells, and determine what part you need and order that.
 
They are VERY good value guns. The final finishing are not that great, BUT most parts are made from hammer forged steel. And it is HARD. Locally, many guys bought them and had them worked over for competition guns. Not much, just the trigger and maybe the lockup and barrel bushing fit. I have shot a few and they seem to run fine. I think it also does not have have the firingpin block which is a good thing on a gun if you want that nice clean trigger.

I think 1911Tuner had a look at a few and said they were alright.

Do not expect the show piece, but they are very solid workhorses. And you will probably never wear one out.
 
Thanks guys! I think you are right about the link and link pin. Is it something I can buy and put on my self or does it take special tools ad a gunsmith?
 
You can install the link and pin pretty easily as long as you're careful to start the pin straight and get the right link. Best bet is the Wilson #3.

A more pressing concern is why the link is missing to start with. Was it removed to use in another gun...or did the link break? If it broke, there could be a little more serious issue at work. Namely...the "Barrel stopping on the link" instead of the vertical impact surface.

Nearly every stock Norinco that I've handled has shown the barrel stopping on the link to some degree. With most of'em, it's light and doesn't seem to hurt anything. A few others were stopping hard on the link. That's a problem.

The other part is the sizing of the hole that the link pin presses into. If it's oversized, you'll need an oversized pin. If it's been wallowed out because the the barrel stopping on the link...you'll probably need a new barrel.

I'm located in Portland, Oregon. The problem with the gun doesn't happen when its loaded and that's the weird thing.

I am. The barrel probably has less than 500 rounds through it. I fitted a Kart barrel to the pistol that it was original to, and the owner...a friend of mine...abandoned it like an ugly old dog. It's been layin' around for a couple-three years, just takin' up space until somebody came along who needed it. Yours if ya want it.
 
1911Tuner is, and always has been, very good people. I'm proud to have met him, happy that he's done some great work on a couple of my pistols, and I have learned a ton from him...hope to do more in the future, too!
 
Tuner's the best. And listen to him about the use of the 1911 hammer on half cock please.
 
Aw, shucks. 'Taint' nothin'.

Gotta go out to check on an injured, abandoned dog over near Asheboro this AM...so I'll have that barrel in the mail today. Not sure how long the trip across the continent will take, so I guess BOLO for it about Friday or Saturday.

Hacker...Hope you can get back by here soon. It's been too long.
 
Well...Bad news. Doing a last close inspection, I see that the barrel has a crack started in the lower lug where it joins the barrel...so this ain't gonna fly. I'll knock the link and pin out of it and send that.

If the pin isn't a firm press-fit, you can use a punch to stake it in around the edges of the hole in three places at 12/4/8 O'Clock. A nail will do the trick.
