I checked two local gun retailers, first Cook's Gun Shop in Biloxi, Mississippi, they wanted $409+tax. I told them I could get an original Winchester 1897 (not a trench gun ofcourse, but a real winchester nontheless) for that much and that I would just shop around. I really hated to do that because I always have taken my guns there to have any work done and they charge fair prices (usually..) for quality work and most of the time will give me a deal on a gun since I do alot of business with them. Honestly, I would've paid $350+tax (still too high) just because I wanted to buy from them. I told them that and they still wouldn't work with me so I was forced to go to the pawn shops.
Of course no one had a norinco 97 or a winchester anything except for a couple 1300s that managed to survive the hurricane and a few model 12s that had definetly seen better days before Katrina. I went to my last hope Dad's Super Pawn, Gulfport, Mississippi. They actually called more than one distributor and found the lowest price for me! Am I buying auto ensurance from Progressive? It was still high from what I had been seeing since before the ban on Norinco imports, $319.99+tax (about $343 total). But I told them to order it for me and felt bad that my other favorite gun shop got beat out by the pawn shop because they were too damn stubborn to recognize their repeat business.
It should be here this time next week and I will have pictures and a Mississippi backyard range report, maybe even a video?
<chide>Maybe I can slam fire without blowing my own face off</chide>
