Ok, I got one for ya...
Is on the books to be voted on. Here's the deal. More and more ranges are being shut down due to lead contamination. Solution: The "Green" bullet. But what is the green bullet?
GlobalSecurity.Org says this:
Now, it really cracks me up that ANYONE with 1/1MTH of a clue would consider "Frangible" ammunition as armor piercing. This type of ammunition also provides a safety factor as the chance of a ricochet is greatly reduced because the bullet is designed to turn into powder upon impact with just about any material that would normally cause a ricochet. (Is there 2 "c"'s or 3???)
So, do we in NY forgo a cleaner environment and a collaterally safer bullet and keep using lead/copper jacketed lead? Or do we let ppl like Loon... I mean Koon... know that "Frangibles" cannot penetrate armor and thus their addition to this bill is preposterous?
Just my $0.02 worth... because I'm bored...
Amend the definition of "armor piercing ammunition" to include certain new construction materials, and would prohibit the possession of "armor piercing, frangible and devastator ammunition" (A. 2837 – Koon)

So, in essence, the frangible bullet was the original environmentally safe bullet.Frangible Ammunition {snip} The Interagency Working Group for Non-Toxic Small Arms Ammunition, also known as the "Green Bullet" team, initially focused on non-lead bullet material composed of tin and tungsten is the leading candidate for use in military ammunition.
