OMYGOD! I bought a Beretta Neos.....

Went to my favorite gun store intent on buying myself and my family a nice .22 autoloader. Autrey's Armory has one of the largest selections of .22's on the planet and I fondled them ALL. Rugers, Brownings, S&W's, et al. Towards the end, the salesman said "Oh, almost forgot to show you the Beretta Neos" and hands me one of the wierdest-looking handguns I've ever seen. I passed on all of those traditional, macho .22's and walked out with the Neos. Here are my reasons for choosing the Neos:

1. Fine quality, fit and finish for a bargain price ($239)
2. excellent balance with the grip moved forward under the barrel.
3. ideal sight picture, much like a Glock, fully adjustable.
4. Bodacious trigger in SA
5. Smaller grip size for my wife and grandchildren to train on.
6. Top of slider already pre-tapped for scope mount, if wanted.
7. Loaded chamber indicator right at the rear of the gun.
8. Comes with 2 mags and a nice quality hi-impact carrying case.

The strange grip angle, much like a Luger, fits my hand perfectly.

I haven't had time to shoot it but I expect it will be uncannily accurate, reliable, and a boat-load of fun for years to come.

Wifey really hit a home run with this Christmas present and it is a gun she will take pleasure in shooting.

Owners and potential owners, your comments are surely welcome.
 
A good friend of mine just bought one. He loves it. I love it.

It's just about all you could ask for in a .22 autoloading pistol.

The build quality is first rate, and the grip, while different, is wonderful! Trigger sublime.

To cap it all off, you can't beat the built-in rail for a red-dot, or the price.



I think this pistol will be the standard by which all other .22s will be judged years from now.
 
Yep, Neos is what my wife selected for herself.

I would have liked the longer barrel, but she didn't like it being front-end heavy, so we settled for the short barrel.

For me, it doesn't point as naturally as my .45, but it isn't mine, so who cares what I think? :rolleyes:

Anyway, really nice .22. We put a holographic sight on it (which cost more than the gun, wasn't expecting that!), and my wife gets better groups than I do.
 
I've had a 4.5" Neos for about a year. After a Walther P22 it is heaven-sent. Never a problem with failure to feed, fire, or eject. The only thing objectionable on the Neos is I find it nearly impossible to work the safety with my shooting hand. It"s behind my thumb!!
 
I bought the Neos, 6" barrel, Inox finish on December 31. I have put about 500 rounds t hrough it...no problems. I added a cheap/inexpensive Simmons red dot to it and from 50' (and I am a lousy shot normally) I can put all rounds into a 3" circle. For me, that was virgin terrritory.

I choose it because the sales person demonstrated how easy it was to take down for cleaning. It is almost Glock-like easy.

Let's see...inexpensive, accurate, easy to use and take down, very nice trigger, ok a bit doofy looking, but that grows on you.
 
OK, I was about to be all cautionary about this; it seems NOT to be a problem with anyone else.
I've found that UNLESS I fire "jacketed" rounds only, I develop a lead build-up at the muzzle. Additionally, was advised as such during a phone call to Beretta for another issue. They identified it as a significant factor to diminishing accuracy. Anyone else see this occur??:eek:
 
I love my Neos,and it has been 100% from round one even though it prefers i not use Federal bulk packs.The only thing i dont like about mine is the "sandblasted" look that i first noticed at about 200 rounds right by the extractor.Does anybody elses Neos have this phenomenon?
 
I always thought the neos was a nice looking 22, for a decent price too. Does any one else find the position of the safety to be somewhat uncomfortable? My dad and I both handled one at the gun store and found them to be less than ideal.
 
I love my Neos. Being a Sci-Fi geek, the look of the gun is cool. I also have the sandblasted look arounf the extractor. Doing the trigger job described on rimfire central brought my trigger pull down to about 3.5#.

That gun has eaten THOUSANDS of rounds of every type. It was the gun my wife learned to shoot on. When it was brandy new, it would FTF sometimes on Federal, but now it likes those too.

I added a Leupold 35mm red dot this summer - tons of fun. I find I enjoy rimfire the most at steel shoots now...

BTW, a friend bought a p-22 at the same time. Nothing but trouble. He sold it and bought a SIG Trailside. That's a beutiful gun, a little more accurate than the Beretta, but for over $600, it better be. OTOH, half of the PLASTIC factory mags he bought for it were bad (FTF). Whenever the mags weren't working, I loaned his wife my Beretta;)
 
I've been giving the purchase of a Neos some serious consideration lately too. I just haven't decided between the Neos or the Walther P22 though. I've read so many conflicting reports and testimonials on both.:(

I guess the thing to do is to take the plunge and hope I get lucky with whichever one I choose.
 
Stay away from the p22

What a disappointment! I have one and at first loved it until I broke it in and then.... it began to fail. The slide is a cheap zinc alloy or something like it. It had a burr on the slide that was getting worse and I took a key from my keychain and scatched the burr off. Now keys, are made of cheap metal. If a key of mine is stronger than the metal on the slide? You do the math. What a waste of money that gun was... And I also feel bad due to the fact that originally I was singing it's praises and possibly influenced someone else to make a poor investment. Don't get me wrong, The gun is neat and a great concept. Until the slide is redone in a stronger material STAY AWAY.
 
I can't speak to the material quality, but that design has been around a long time and I have one piece of advice. Shoot it, enjoy it, but DON'T take the d***ed thing apart. It is not meant to be detail stripped every two minutes just for fun. You can clean it without destroying it.
