on eating lead...

The only thing I shoot with 7 1/2's is clay, and I don't eat that. I use 6's and up for game. I remember finding pellets in duck, until I started going with and was put in charge of cleaning them.

That’s pretty big for dove, unless you mean “and up” being larger numerically (smaller shot diameter).

I shoot a good 4-6 dozen dove every dove season and it's all done with 7.5s, lead. I chew tenderly and a pellet probably gets by my teeth from time to time. No tellin', but I might be able to load a shell or two if I strained the bottom of my septic tank, but that's okay, lead shot ain't that expensive. :D

Of topic but kind of funny.
Quite a few years ago a guy my dad knew was accidentally shot while pheasant hunting. The shot penetrated the skin and the doctor had to pick it all out. An x ray revealed one piece of shot in his gut. After cutting him open and not finding a hole in the intestine they realized he had ingested the shot from the pheasant he ate the night before.
