I've decided to add a entry-level AR to my collection but don't really want to spend a fortune.

I just purchased this a few hours ago. It looks like it comes with the "flat dark earth" MOE stock that I wanted. I didn't know until after the purchase that it came with a P-mag... yay.

I probably should have asked this before shelling out $299 + $15 (shipping), but are these considered decent?

I plan on finishing it with a this, which will cost about $568 before shipping complete with MOE furniture and MBUS rear site. It should end up offering about what I want and be PSA all the way around.

Now that I've already spend the dough, what is the consensus on PSA?

high shelf lowers--excellent quality, just built out a lower last weekend that i got on special for 49.95--everything fits and functions. :p

I dont have their lower - but have used their lower parts kit and found it fantastic. Better than DPMS, Rock River, or Daniel Defense.

I have two of their lowers, and the quality is excellent. The PSA standard AR trigger is one of the best standard AR triggers I've ever encountered, and all the other small parts are nicely finished.

Snowdog, FYI - you could have saved $80 by buying the stripped lower and MOE build kit separately and assembling the lower yourself.

That doesn't surprise me, Fishbed77... I frequently overpay on these things. My problem is that I do some research but usually insufficient research to get the best deal.

I am glad to read that PSA is held in high regards for an entry level AR.
I will probably go with them to complete the carbine (PSA mid-length upper) eventually. I'm not really in any hurry, so I will do well to research the upper to save some cash I could use to feed the thing.
I already did purchase several boxes of XM193, XM193F and XM855 off a buddy for $5 a box in anticipation of this build (I don't yet have anything in 5.56). I wouldn't mind buying a few boxes though.

Thanks for the info, folks!

I'm a bit torn with PSA. I bought one of their uppers and I couldn't get the front pin in at all. I ended up slowly sanding it until it fit well but it was a pain. I also had a YHM gas block from them show up about .005" too small, but that's a YHM issue. Anyways, the last build I did took a bit of fit work to go together. Their bolt was also very very tight in the carrier. With what was delivered from my last order I'm not certain who I'd buy from for another build.

The one in the picture here went together nice, lower quality is great, the uppers seem to be pretty nice too. I have to second the above about the parts kit and trigger, both are pretty good. The only complaint I could have about it is that the lower to upper fit is rather sloppy. Then again my brothers Rock River lower and home built upper is a bit sloppy too.

Their lowers are as good as any standard AR-15 lowers on the market. I bought mine for $50 during one of their periodic sales. I will be finishing it with one of their parts kits and uppers, too. I had originally planned on getting a BCM 20" upper, but then when PSA came out with a 20" of their own that has all the same features and quality control for less money, it was an easy choice.

PSA doesn't have very good deals on CTR stock kits, though. I will be getting my stock from DSG Arms, along with my mags... mags are the same price at Palmetto, but DSG gives me free shipping if I spend over $150 with them.

Lowers are good I got my last for 49.95 and a MOE Black lower parts kit for 129.99 from PSA.
The total after shipping and transfer came to 200.00 for a complete MOE lower. I built it on my own and saved 100.00. I'm pleased overall with the quality.

I built a PSA lower for about $150 a month ago. I'm extremely pleased with the high quality parts. Now I just have to put an upper on it... ;)

The only problem I had assembling mine was that the safety detent spring would not fit in the hole using their classic LPK. I have an armorers kit, so It wasn't a big deal, I just found one that fit.
