Hello everyone! My grandfather recently gave me his old, "deer rifle." Turns out the darn thing is a Pattern 1914 Enfield that's been sporterized. Most of the 1914s I've seen around have had shot out barrels and were in generally poor shape. Grandpa took care of his, the bore is still bright and sparkly with crisp rifling.

Problem is that this baby has been sitting in an attic for 35-40 years and the action isn't what it once was. I've had difficulty feeding rounds from the get go and it requires effort to close the bolt on a chambered round. I should clarify what I mean when I say, "effort." I'm aware of the "cock on close" function for this particular model, so I don't expect it to behave Mauser-style. What I mean is that at times it would be helpful to have a dead-blow hammer nearby as an assist. Can't determine the source of the interference though.

So the question for the board is: Does anyone know where I could obtain a good manual for the P1914 which includes parts diagrams, detail strip instructions, common troubleshooting and part interchanges with the M1917? No worries if it's super technical, I read tech manuals for a living.

I own other mil-surp rifles, so I'm not a complete rube, but the pattern is unfamiliar, so I was looking for guidance.

Also, since I need a new stock, I'm trying to find an online exploded diagram which will allow me to figure out which additional metal parts are required to re-militarize the rifle. The reciever and barrel are mostly untouched, but all the wood and assorted metal attachment parts are gone. Anyone know if there's a resource like this handy?

Thanks!
