I've sent a pistol off for some work including refinishing. The options for hard chrome are brush or satin. Does anyone have pics they can post that really show the difference? Or a website they can point me too? I appreciate it.

The flats of the slide are brushed, the rest is matte/satin. Too bad this one isn't mine.

This pic is of that same gun above (happens to be mine ;) ), but a close up that somewhat shows the difference better.

As stated, the flats of the slide are brushed, the rest is matte.

I think brushed HC surface receives scratches (microscopic size) more easily than matte surface. This would be true for any polished surface, but HC is almost scratch proof.

In general, shiny surfaces do show scratches more easily. But Hard Chrome is so dang tough (65-75 Rockwell "C" hardness vs. ~30 for most steel) that it hardly matters.

FWIW, I don't think the "Brushed" HC from one plater necessarily
matches that of another platers. Some are almost "mirror" while some wind up being like brushed S.S.
