Pistol Videos on Youtube.com question

I much enjoy the videos of a number of people, like Hickok45, but a lot of gun videos seem geared to 16 year olds and, frankly, are an embarrassment to the gun community in the sense they just play on the stereotype of the pistol shooter as an adolescent who wants to blow stuff up.

No point in naming names. Each of us will have favorites, but many of these videos seem pretty lacking to me.

Two questions come to mind after years of watching videos on pistols.

----Why do so few actually pay little attention to the pistol's "accuracy capability" or accuracy out of the box beyond the ability of the shooter to hit a six inch plate at ten yards?

----Why do so many of them spend so much download time with loud music, stuff blowing up, rapid fire, and "tough" looking guys posturing? I would prefer more information and less "production".

Anyone else think a lot of these videos are lacking?

Maybe I would not be cranky if I had unlimited download time out here in the boonies.

From the "trending popular" YouTube posts (not firearms, just YouTube generally), it is an entertainment site, first & foremost Firearms posts follow along - the large majority are to entertain.

I'm with you, though. I've found around 10 channels that offer enough information in a format that I find acceptable.

Hickok45 is one and he has a huge following. Another that I like that has a much smaller subscriber base is RealGuysReviews. He has a nice library of posts of handgun reviews and covers the basics - trigger pull, capacity, sights, field stripping, any special features - without a bunch of fluff.

I agree, an alarming percentage of gun-related You-tube videos are from clueless morons that give gun owners a very embarrasing representation, especially like the ones that show guys letting their buddy shoot them while they're wearing a kevlar vest ! (but I must admit, there is some real entertainment value there )
There ought to be a feature that erases the video entirely if it gets, say, a hundred thumbs-down votes.
I watched most of one recently about SKS's, from some ill-informed opinionated kid, and he was hillariously crucified by countless comments. The best one was probably, "you don't need to be making instructional videos, you need to be watching them"!! (advice that should be posted on quite a few of these videos).

More and more "quality" gun posters on Youtube are posting on full30. Since Google bought Youtube, I am surprised Youtube still allows gun related content .... I guess even liberal Google likes money.

I have found most of the (very few) amateur YouTube pistol reviews that I have tried to watch to be self-indulgent, unfocused, meandering, unwatchable rubbish ... and I quickly moved on.

It's true. I shoot guns to relax, so the last thing I want to associate with them is heavy metal and roided out igits with more tattoos than common sense.

I like Hickok45 and the Natl Shooting Sports Foundation instructional videos. I occasionally watch Iraqveteran8888 and Rob somebody. A lot of reviews are by dimwits for sure and arrogant military "experts" bug me.

Yes, the solution is to not watch them, or to fast forward past the lame intro music and "badassery" they try to demonstrate.

Nutnfancy is like listening to a kid that needs ritalin. Can't stand him, though he shares some useful info. His videos could be half the length they are if he would focus on facts.

The Yankee Marshal is such a complete buffoon I'd like to smash my computer when I hear him speak. Everything is based on his personal opinion, and he acts like you're supposed to head his words as if they were inscribed on stone tablets.

MAC is ok, but he lost a lot of my respect with his VP9 torture test video.

Sootch is ok, but his videos are loaded with testosterone driven BS.

Hickok45 is by far my favorite.

I agree with the OP, but occasionally you find a decent reviewer. tnoutdoors9 has some excellent reviews on ammunition performance.
