Plastic Grips vs. Synthetic Grips. Same Thing or Different?

I was looking at getting a Beretta 92FS and noticed that some of the grips are labeled as being “plastic” and some are labeled as being “synthetic.” What is the difference?

I asked the dealer and he said they were the same thing. However, if they are the same thing, then why does the one with the synthetic grips cost about $40 more? I wanted to check with the fine members of this board before I made a buy.

Synthetics can be anything from laminated wood to artifical ivory(made out of polymers). Pearlite is another synthetic. Fake Mother of Pearl. You can have pearlite in electric blue or pink if you want.
Plastic is just that. Factory 92FS grips are plastic.

All plastics are synthetic, but not all synthetics are plastic.
