Ported Slide - SIG P226

Considering getting a slide ported for competition for my P226. This will be a new .40 S&W slide as part of the .40 conversion kit (my P226 is a 9mm). I am planning on getting the conversion kit so I can shoot major power factor with it in USPSA.

A local gunsmith recommended that I port the slide to make it lighter (less slap back on recoil).

Pros/cons?
