Search didn't uncover my specific needs. But, my load for years was 5.5 gr. Unique, 357 brass, 150-158 gr cast swc, standard primer, 860 fps; 4 in barrel.

Can anyone provide chrono information for:

1. 5.9gr Unique, for 125 gr plated and 150-160 gr cast boolits, same components as before.
2. 5.2gr. Universal, same components.
3. 5.7gr. Universal, same components.

6.0 gr Unique, .357 Magnum brass, standard primer, 125 gr plated flat point bullet, 4" barrel Taurus Model 66 gave 942 fps average velocity (with a Berry's plated HP in .38 Special brass, I got 973 fps average)

5.2 gr Unique, .357 Magnum brass, standard primer, 158 gr plated flat point bullet, 4" barrel Taurus Model 66 gave 780 fps average velocity

The rest of my Unique data is from my Rossi lever gun with a 20" barrel.

I haven't tried Universal yet (can't find any).

Nobody can post chrono results for those loads but you! If you don't own a chronograph, then get one. Even if somebody could duplicate those loads/gun/range it would still not be accurate.

Can't seem to find my notes but as I recall 5.2gr Universal (Lee .57 disk) was around 1100 fps with a 158 lead SWC out of a 4" Python.
Lots of variables, lead hardness, exact bullet dia, OAl, different barrel etc, so this is just a general number.

Just like when a loading manual lists Powder A start charge X velocity is Y pressure is Z, max charge is X1 max vel is Y1 and max pressure is Z1 these are for the exact test conditions at the time of the test and it is very unlikely anyone would ever get the exact same results.

AS always YMMV.

This. All guns are unique and the same lot of ammunition in different guns will many times yield dissimilar results.

You'll never know for sure, which multiple postings seem to suggest is your goal, unless you test your load in your gun.

I'd suggest it's not that nobody wanted to help, but more a case of those with the equipment knew it'd be inaccurate information.

This is very true. A chrono is not an expensive piece of equipment any more. They can be had for ~$100 these days and IMO they provide very valuable information for the handloader and not only velocity numbers.

.

Bingo!
