What's the difference between a PreBan and PostBan AR-15, or more specifically the parts related to them?

Also, do you think the "Post Ban" AR-15 Upper Kits will drop in price if the AW Ban sunsets?

After Sept. 13, 2004 there will be no difference at all. The AWB renewal was shot down by the Senate a couple days ago. The law is still in affect till Sept. 13 however. Unless you live in a state that has a ban on these type weapons that won't go away with the federal version don't pay a premium for anything advertised as 'pre-ban'. After Sept. 13 parts is parts and mags are mags. I expect mag prices to drop quite a bit, rifle parts kits most likely won't get cheaper but you'll be able to get a much wider variety of configurations.

Too bad the legislation to protect firearms manufacturers and dealers from frivolous lawsuits had to be scuttled along with the AWB. I say one victory and another fight to be fought. Keep the Dems out of office if you care about your gun rights and a soverign USA.

AR-15/ AWB

Prices should come down a bit on what are now pre-ban AR's. The big difference will be the ability to install any parts(minus of full auto parts) that YOU want on YOUR AR. The big deal is going to be on mags.

The big difference is that post ban ARs can't have telescoping stocks, flash suppressors, or bayonet lugs.

Pre ban rifles can.

Again, hopefully this will all be a moot point soon. :)

DMK:
They are, but as sound suppressors are also flash suppressors (at least thats what the ATF says), they arent usable on postbans. Once the ban expires, those that are willing to pay the tax will be able to use them.
