Primer Alternatives for 357 Magnum

Data tends to automatically associate magnum primers with magnum loads, while few powders are known to actually require it. Most notable seems to be W296/H110, while magnum primers have also been recommended to clean up unburned powder, for example with HS6 and SR4756, data for which would normally call for standard primers.

Lots of good input. One thing that I didn't see mentioned. Reportedly CCI 550.Small Pistol Magnum Primers and CCI 400 Small Rifle have the same Brisance. Some people claim that they are the same primer differing only in packaging......I do not know if that is true or if there is a difference in primer cup hardness. Given the multiple testers have reported that they perform the same that would be my first choice in substitutions if forced to sub.
