[Q] CZ-52 cannot release slide

Hi, first time touched this particular gun.
(and this is an embarassing question.. I guess)

I pushed the slide back till the end (magazine was in,
no bullets). Then it locked
There is no slide release on this gun. I do not know
how to unlock it.

I tried taking out/inserting magazine. That does not work.
I downloaded the 3 page manual... but do not see anything there.

I think that what you have described also happened to me when I first purchased this pistol. Can you remove the slide? With the barrel facing to your left, remove the slide, and look at the area directly to the top left of the grip. There is a small dogleg of metal that contacts the "slide release" lever and will touch the floorplate of an empty magazine when inserted. Try to move that part by hand or with a tool and see if you can loosen things up. Makarov.com also sells an extended lever to update this gun with a more modern slide release.

Take out the magazine, pull back and release the slide.

Pull mag out and together pull back slide and using either thumb lower the slide stop lever on left side. Its tricky but it will release the slide forward. good luck

Guys, it worked. Did what Nathan said: that thin piece of metal on the left is a slide release (and I had to push up the front part of it).
