Are you referring to the flexible feed sleeves like on these mini-guns?

If so, be advised there is a standard disentrigrating link belt inside each one. The sleeves simply act as a guide for the belts so they don't get twisted into a position that wouldn't feed.

Here is the Colt Model 1890 Gatling Gun Serial #517 that was used in the movie Rooster Cogburn with the enclosed "stick feed" that was first used in the 1874 Model.

There was also an open feed strip that looked just like a big stripper clip in which the cartridges were held only by their rims. The open models often required a little digital assistance for reliable feeding. The enclosed version held the cartridges more loosely so that gravity was all that was needed.

Tonight, the first 'night' (actually morning) of 2006 for me, I checked 'new posts' for the last time before bed and find this thread, the first post of which was made in 2003 by Pax (for Pres, 20__):

It's time to update the THR Library, and we need your help to do so. There are a lot of smart people here, and all of us together know more than any one of us alone. So here's what we're going to do:

<some instructions>

Once this thread has grown awhile, I'll come through and harvest the entries for inclusion in the Library, and one of our tech-savvy admin types will post it for us.

The newest page, #11, was topped by BluesBear with an image of miniguns back in May, and revived again by Alexey today, 1/1/06.

So, I just gotta say this before crawling into bed for a few hours of sleep:

BUMP!

More later.
