I have a question for you guys. With all the popular IMR and Hodgdon powders on inter-galactic backorder, I was thinking about ordering some TAC to try in .308 and .223. I have heard its pretty good powder so far. What I am wondering is why its not sold out like the others? Is there ample supply of it, or are people avoiding it?

I think it's just old, cheap and plentiful and therefore not cool like N320. Solo 1000 was a rather boring powder until Accurate bought Scot. That said I've never used TAC because my main source of powder doesn't stock Ramshot. Ironically my source for VV does. Maybe I'll pick up a pound when I run out of N320. You never know, it might be the next big thing. ;)

TAC is a very good powder. It works well in .223, and should work fine in .308, but I have no experience there.

TAC is a very good powder for the .223 rem, I have no idea what N320 is useful for!

This is what happens when someone comes along and post something that is totally irrelevant to the thread and causes confusion with folks who are less experienced than others. If you have knowledge to past along that is good, but to add without good intent is not good. I noticed the wink Icon, but not everybody does.

I use TAC for .223 and 308 (as well as other rounds) it meters just as well as 748 and costs a lot less.

You can use N320 for subsonic .223 and 308 but I prefer N310 as smaller powder volumes suppress better.

I switched from Varget to TAC for my 69 & 77gr .223 loads because of availability and significantly lower price. Measures easier than Varget (using TAC I usually get 0.0gr difference in charge weight out of my Lee Perfect Powder Measure, though a lot of that has to do with the intrinsic quality of that powder measure). Accuracy about the same given my abilities.

Im shooting .308 using 147-150 grain bullets and the minimum charges of both BL-C(2) and IMR 4895 right now. I have been getting consistent 2700 fps with this mix. Can I expect that from TAC too?

I like TAC in 308. Very good velocities and accuracy. I was disappointed with it in 223, at least with the 55 grain bullets. Shot over 100 fps slower than the Xterminator at the same charge weight.

I don't remember the difference in pressure.

I just got 5 more pounds of x-terminator. It was on sale at Midway last month. I use it in 223 and 45-70 with real good results. I am going to try it for some other recipes soon.

Contact Western powders for specific questions. They have been verry helpful in the past.
