Today my wife randomly decided that the truck needed some play time, and we went to LBL. If you don't know the abbreviation look it up, it's a great place for folks like us. Sooo, I decided that the brass rat in me needed to make a quick trip to the range, which was very busy. Wife stayed in the truck and I went scavenging. I was hoping for .308 and .223 but was expecting a few 9mm and some stuff I cant use. I should have been hoping for bars of gold. I stopped at the first of 2 sets of tables and immediately started digging in the trash for a bucket, found a big folders can that was previously a target. Wished I found 5 of them. The brass was so thick I was kicking it into piles and scooping it up. A broom and dustpan would have been a blessing. I normally pick up everything shiny, but today I was being selective. I left 44 mag, 357 mag, 38spl, I even left 30-06 and 300blk. I filled my coffee can with nothing but LC 5.56, along with PPU and PMC .308. Oh how I wish I had grabbed my bucket. I ended up with 150 .308 stamped cases, and 350 .556 cases. As I was considering going back for round 2 I got "the look" and knew I was done. Another shooter was arriving and had a broom and a couple buckets. We chatted for a few minutes and he joked about me being a shooter with no gun at the range, asked if the picking was good. I emptied my folders can and put it in his bucket on his cart. He looked kinda funny when I did that and I said he might need it and told him he might want to set up by the trio at the first station. I hope that guy is on here to tell how much he left with...
Today was just one of those rare days where everything came together. If your passing through LBL tomorrow morning stop and scrounge. It will probably be worth your while...but I doubt you find much .308
