Hey y'all,

I have taken-on scoping my nephews' Marlin 60 .22lr, and have run into the issue that the dovetail-type grooves on the receiver are narrow and don't fit most standard rings for 1"-diameter scope tubes.

Is it just that I need to look for more adjustable scope ring bases or is there a catch with using this type of narrow mounts on a .22?

Thanks!

I have used a few .22 scopes, and the only one I've really been happy with has been the Nikon 4x32. It comes with rings, and they work just fine with my Marlin 60.

(I'm sure I'd be happy with a $1000 scope; I'm just talking about scopes that are in the same economic ballpark as a Model 60. That Nikon is an EXCELLENT scope for $100 including rings.)

Yeah, if you already have a scope, you can buy the rings. As chevyforlife21 says, the mount is called a "dovetail" mount. The rings might also be marked ".22" or "rimfire" or "tip-off". These are all terms used for the standard .22-style dovetail mount on a Marlin 60.:)
