I have a Belguim Made Browning Takedown 22 that was make some time after 1965. In my irresponsible youth I did not properly care for this rifle and there is some surface rust and some light pitting of the metal. I need to get a couple of parts for the take down lock, but I am wondering if I shouls have this rifle refinished to look new again or should I wait to do this.
I will never sell this gun because it was my granfather's and is very dear to me. Should I clean it up the best I can now, shoot it for the next 25 to 30 years and then get it refinished for my kids? I am only 32 years old and i know this will be one of the first rifles my son who is now 20 months old will shoot a lot in the coming years a long with my 1938 manufactured O.F. Mossberg Model 46-A 22 bolt action rifle.
What would you guys do?
Thanks,
