Hi All

Does any member have a load for 10mm in a 140 gr lead coated RN bullet and only using Alliant Pistol Powders or you may not have this powder in USA ADI Pistol powders,
I've searched the internet and check all my reloading books without success .
The reason i am looking for a load is i was given a couple of thousand round and instead of melting them down i decided to see if anyone has some and used them.

Might try Castpics http://castpics.net/dpl/

If all else to be on the safe side load to 150/155gr using the same bullet type since the heavier bullet will use less powder.

Careful with Power Pistol and Plunk for OAL. I have a story to tell when all testing is complete tomorrow on my Power Pistol 10mm loads.

Thanks fellows to your reload suggestion.
The only problem we can't get any AA5 powders here.
I have though about loading 10mm powder rate for the 140 gr RN using the 135 gr bullet and try adjustments for the 140 gr bullet. But i don't like trying this just in case things go wrong on the range.
Hopefully some will be able to come up with a load for the size bullet.
It works great in a .40 S&W and ADI 10th addition had some load data.
Its a shame we don't get more type of your powders down under.

I would have to vote for going with the following if I were in your shoes, "AP70N", under Hodgdon's name it is called Universal. It is roughly equivalent to Unique and burns pretty clean.

As for what load to use, looking at the data listed on Hodgdon's site between the 10mm - 135 and 155gr bullets. I would split the differences of the Universal data between the two starting loads and work up.

The Barnes bullet is solid copper and will give higher pressures with any loads over what the cup and core others do.

This is simply part of the cast bullet game, where you have a great bullet with absolutely no data for it. Most of the molds I have are custom and throw weights different from what is mostly listed in the manuals so you have to sometimes read between the lines a bit.

Hope that helps.

If you have 135 gr data you can use it and start at the bottom load range. The truth is 5 gr is not a make or break as long as bullet type is the same and you don't start at the high end of the load chart. As 41Mag said cast bullet weights will vary by lead mixture and mold. I have a 9mm 120 TC mold that is throwing 124gr. weights with the lead mixture I am using.

Oh and Just make sure you seat them to the right OAL. Use the Plunk Test to confirm feeding in your gun.

You can safely use the rate for the next higher weight bullet of the same style and composition. So if you have data for a 150-165 lead bullet you can use that.

Start low as your velocity will increase with you lighter bullet.

ADI makes a lot of Hodgdon/IMR powders but not Alliant powders. Most however are rifle powders.

I appreciate all the effort you guys take to in form us of your trials and tribulation whilst loading and passing on your best loads and expertise which is a great help.
I will try all suggestion and see how I go with the loading data.
Some one suggested I check out a old Barnes reloading book which had a load for the 140gr RN jacket bullet using unique and blue dot powders. I could try at the starting load which might work, but cant find it yet on the internet but will keep looking.
But for now will start with all your reloading ideas and see how I go. Thanks again and this is a great forum.
