For those wanting a bolt that locks shut on their 700, a cheaper alternative than one of the aftermarket three position safetys is to swap in an earlier bolt locking factory 700 safety.
The problem is that the newer 700 bolts are not machined for the earlier 700 safety. The bolt lock safety was discontinued in 1982, the bolts were still machined for the old safetys through the end of the 80s, but the newer ones are not.
I solved this problem on my 97 vintage rifle with careful use of my dremel tool. The result turned out great, bolt has even less wiggle when locked than factory machined bolts.
