I'm considering a conversion from .243 Win to 22BR and would like to use either a Rem. Model 7 or Rem. Model 700 rifle. Which one of these rifle actions would I expect more quality and best accuracy? I previously posted this question under Gunsmithing but got no responses. Need some help. Thanks!

Remington Model Seven (Model 7) Versus The Model 700

If trying to make a weight class for Benchrest, you might want the 7? Both should be blue printed for best accuracy. Good link on the difference. http://rifleshooter.com/2015/05/remington-model-seven-and-700-comparison/ Sorry not much help, not a gunsmith. You might ask over at http://benchrest.com/forum.php

Best accuracy does really apply since you'll be changing everything that matters other than the trigger. However, I'd be inclined to go with the 7 just because it starts out a few inches shorter. That'd make magazine adjustments a bit easier.

I would use the 700 short action over the 7.The 7's rear bedding bolt is smaller, and bedding is critical. If you're going to glue the stock,it won't matter.Action footprint and stock availability are also factors. It would take extra $ for that, and the extra cash would be better used for other things.
