Remember 'The Letter'? - Let's remind them of their own promise!

Most of you should remember the letter from 65 Democrat Congressmen and women that was sent to Eric Holder when this administration first took office.

Of the 65 Congressmen and women that signed this letter, many still remain in office. We all need to find our state's elected official and remind them of the promise they made publicly to this administration; "We would actively oppose any effort to reinstate the 1994 ban, or to pass any similar law". We need their votes to hold that promise!

There are still dozens of votes right here that we need to secure for our side of this issue.

I will list the Congressmen and women who retain office and include their contact info for you all to use. Please do so! If you see a typo or any correction that needs to be made, please post because I'm simply googling their name and if they don't have a .gov website, I state that they are 'no longer in office'.

Those who don't remember the letter, here is the text of it...

As strong supporters of the Second Amendment, we were very concerned to see your recent remarks suggesting that the administration will push for the reinstatement of the 1994 ban on "assault weapons" and ammunition magazines.

We believe that this ban was ineffective during the 10 years it was law, and would oppose its reenactment. Crime began falling before the ban was passed in 1994, and continued falling during and after the ban. The last time the murder rate was at its current level was more than forty years ago.

Even the Urban Institute study of the ban's effectiveness mandated by the 103rd Congress found that it could only have a limited effect because "the banned weapons and magazines were never used in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders."

It is hard to believe the ban would be any more effective in controlling crime by well-funded international drug traffickers, who regularly use grenade launchers, anti-tank rockets and other weapons that are not available on the civilian market in the United States.

The gun control community as intentionally misled many Americans into believing that these weapons are fully automatic machine guns. They are not. these firearms fire one sot for every pull of the trigger. Some of the guns that would be banned under proposed bills have been around for more than 70 years, and are often passed down from generation to generation.

Many of our constituents lawfully own and use these firearms and ammunition magazines that would be affected by the new ban. Indeed, these are commonly owned firearms through the country. Law-abiding Americans use these guns for all the same reasons they use any other kind of gun--competitive shooting, hunting, and defending their homes and families.

Our constituents also have very real and serious problems that we in Congress urgently need to address. People are worried about keeping their jobs, paying for their families' health care, educating their children, and retiring with the kind of security their parents and grandparents enjoyed. A long and divisive fight over a gun control issue will only distract us from giving these more important issues the attention they deserve.

Again, we would actively oppose any effort to reinstate the 1994 ban, or to pass any similar law. We urge you to abandon this initiative and to focus instead on effective law enforcement strategies to enforce our current laws against violent criminals and drug traffickers.

Demand that they keep their word; no voting present, no skipping the vote. They promised to ACTIVELY OPPOSE new gun control legislation. Demand that they do so or vacate their elected office!

But also, I'd start out by THANKING THEM for their participation in that letter back in 2009 and explain how important it was for them to make this promise. Back in 2009, I personally contacted the Colorado individuals and simply thanked them when I first read about it.

They just asked That idiot, jessie jackson, how any of this is going to cut down on Chicaco's 500 plus murders by changing the laws or banning assault weapons, he tried to deflect the conversation, but for a change the newsman kept asking him to answer the question, to which he said it's because 40-something percent are unemployed, and don't want to flip burgers at Mcdonalds.
They even interviewes a drug dealer/gang banger, Who's face was covered, and he said , when he kills a rival dealer, his business picks up, because he then takes over his territory.
They admitted that new laws will do nothing to recuce the death toll. What more do they need other than outright admissions from the criminals themselves. They are using any kind of gun they can steal or buy from someone who stole it.
How is any legislation going to get a country with this many problems back on track, it's not. We also need to get these drugs off the streets once and for all.
We watch these shows on TV showing how they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in salaries for DEA and ATF cops to make buy and bust stings to fetch a few grand in drugs, they are out of jail before the ink is dry.
Nothing is going to get better until they have a comprehensive packsge of drug, mental health, immigration, and education. until that happens we will continue to drown in a sea of discontent, where an occasional nut case will emerge and show us that there are monsters living amongst us.
We need guns to protect ourselves from being in a crossfire or attack from these people.
And the pure psycopaths aren't going to be detered by gun laws, they want to die, preferablly taking as many with them as possible, but I am sure that anyone who does this is going to continue doing it. Perhaps we can cut the death toll if they arm teachers and civilians, but other than that the plans they make are not reversable, once they plan it in their heads, they are usually going to follow through, maybe die faster that's about all it will acomplish.
It appears that they want to kill them selves or be killed anyhow, so arming more people can get them their wish faster.
This is turning into a debate about a dozen other things that cause these things to happen. Maybe if we bring that to light it will help prove that guns really have very little to do with all of this, Because even with all the noise, Chicago's death toll is half of what it was 10 years ago.
It's not the guns, it's the media, they can blow anything out of proportion.
we need more raw data showing that guns are responsible for lowering crime. We need it out there , on the front pages of newspapers, and the internet.

Can't we just host a website and put up the truth about these questions that keep popping up on a daily basis?
Something like Liberty speaks, and just put the stats up on these things. No comments, just statements.There are lot of misinformed folks out there.
I know there are things like this that have been done, but we could do it better, we have so much knowledge here, just the Mods alone, know more about these issues than any congressman or Senator.
We could make it a fact sheet and send it to every Senator Congressman Mayor, and friend that exhists.
It might go viral? Perhaps do it with sound on UTUBE.
Just give them the facts, something like, In recent days there has been a terrible attempt to shape public opinion by those who would strip us of our rights, we just want to set a few things straight.
And take it from there?
We don't have to ask for signatures, just put it out there, a selfless act to educate the American public, that they are being duped once again, to take their mind off the real problems, by diverting atention to a long time goal of these politicians in their quest to take our rights away from us.
