A wonderful lady I know brought me her husband's WWII service pistol today to see at the range. He was a P-51 Mustang pilot. I offered to take it home to clean as she said it had been in its holster in the attic for many years. Considering its storage location, it is in great shape so I wanted to share a bit of history. Details: Remington slide, FJA, P under mag release and front of rear sight. G stamped at 4 o'clock of disconcetor hole and also below firing pin channel at rear of frame. Ord wheel/cannon visible. 8-rib mainspring housing. Flannery barrel. Safety checked, not groved. Slide stop grooved. With one "S" and one "L" marked mag in 1918 dated pouch. She also brought his 6.5 inch 1936 Woodsman Target in the box. Two beautiful pistols to be handed down to his grand kids. What a great day! Bill

WOW! Thats really nice especially since it was stored in such a fashion. Thanks for sharing!

here is the mag pouch

here are a few pics of the mag pouch with his name stenciled on the back. Looks like it was made in 1918. Anyone know what F.G.F. stands for??

Thanks, Bill Z. (the one in Jax, FL)

ZBill thanks for the pics. I carried a Remington Rand 1911 for three years in the mid 70's when I was a Frankfurt MP. (A Co 709 MP) It didn't look as nice as the one in your pics, but it never failed me. Sure wish there was a way I could of took it home. Rick

It looks excellent. I'm surprised (as many are) that its previous storage condition didn't cause any damage. I hope the owner understands and appreciates what she has, and will ensure it'll be passed on to somebody who will take good care of it.

Wow, that's in great condition. I'd really love one of those, even if it wasn't so nice.
