Caught a good calm wind early morning range session this past Sunday. This was shot at 100yds on a concrete bench with a Caldwell Rock rest and a rear leather bunny ear bag. 168 Nosler custom competition handweighed, all brass was fully match prepped. .308 Remington 700 SPS varmint barrel 1-12 twist, stock trigger slightly tweaked, H-S precision stock, warne picatinny mount, burris extreme tactical 30 mm rings, a BSA 6-24 tactical mildot scope. Basically or it IS a Remington 700P sniper rifle. The lower right diamond was 2 sighter/fouler shots, center diamond is a 5 shot knot the lower left diamond is a 7 shot knot. There was a guy with a .30 cal benchrest with wind flags and much more expensive rig not doing much better than this.

Decent, but you forgot a picture of the rifle!! Have you tried something a little farther like ~300+? I've been looking at the 700 line for a while and still haven't picked one up.

very nice groups, i also have a 1-12 twist on my fn tsr xp. but only been shooting lighter bullets with good results, new to reloading now i will try some heavier bullets. goes to show you can get these kind of results without spending allot of cash, i also have the same scope on my fn.

sorry meant to say i have a tsr xp not a spr

Its a great scope for 150. I have one for my M1A, and my national match AR-15

Congrats on your SPS!!! I knew that I'm not the only one who got one of this shooters! But mine groups 0.25 - 0.3" with handloads. Try to skin bedded it and play with torque on action screws you'll find its capable of more ;-)

couldn't find better groups posted on the web but this is old but still true, I got flier here with crappy Tasco target scope for 110 bucks ;-)

Just a tip for improving your group size, don't shoot your focal point. Adjust the scope a few clicks away and you'll have the target center to look at rather than a ragged hole.

Enjoy your new rifle.

Impressive groupings! I too have a SPS Varmint with some upgrades - HS stock and Jewell trigger. Mine is the .223 versions and it has performed very well with match reloads using Sierra 52 MatchKings.

Mine is also 223, and it groups best with 55 gr V-Max and varget, 26.5 grains I think, maybe a little higher, got to find my load book...

Nothing magic here! You put a cartridge as inherently accurate as a 308 in a good inherently accurate Model 700 action and PRESTO! you have a very accurate rifle capable of one hole groups. It also helps to hand load it.

Ok here is my Savage 12 LRP, that's Target series in 260 REM, really heavy stake for tomatoes
