I apologize in advance if this isn't on the correct forum, but it's time sensitive and you folks have a lot of knowledge.

I have a friend imminently travelling to St. Louis, Mo. for business and we need to know if or under what circumstances to transport or carry there a pistol or, in lieu of that, a knife. Mostly the interest is in self protection in the hotel at night. Absent a carry permit, what are the knife regulations? Blade length, type etc.? Thanks in advance, Joe

MO will recognize and respect the CCW permit of any state. If he has a permit, he's golden. Bring the gun and enjoy. Some places will be posted against firearms, but IF he is spotted as carrying, he can only be asked to leave, and will only get in trouble if he refuses. MO's carry law is quite good and lenient.

If he has no permit, then carry of a loaded weapon in the passenger compartment of a vehicle is just fine.

I'm not sure offhand what the knife regulations are, but for some reason I think 4" or so is as big as you can go without a permit, but I've never heard of anybody getting in trouble for packing a knife (that is, unless that person commits some other crime as well). STL cops have bigger things to deal with.
