Ridiculous Gunbroker Posting of the Week

Wouldn't that be an illegal strawman purchase by him?

I don't think so, as long as his customer has to go through a background check as well. It's not like he's handing it over to someone under the table.

its spreading...

i though i could only see prices like that at gunshows.guess the seller thinks everyone musta have fallen off the truck yesterday.

Not entirely true. I can't speak for NJ but here in MD what is required is an existing, and simple, technology, albeit one that not many makers put in their guns. Any gun made after Jan 1 must have a built-in lock (you know like the ones we all hate in Taurus and S&W guns). Still a bad law, and one that will make most new guns illegal here, but not as bad as you say (though dealers are expecting losses of up to 80% of their handgun business- not sure how very many will be able to stay in business). As for the rest of your post, you are pretty much right.
Lets hope that the new Governor will put people in the position that can rid us of this idiocy.

I think we should make this a regular award. Each week showcase the most ridiculous gun auction you can find.

As far as the fancy target stocks goes, I can pick these up a shows all day for under $10 (usually much less). Alot of people positively hated these stocks (I don't happen to be one of them, so I have a half dozen pair sitting around the house). It's a nice gun, but couldn't be work over half what he's opening with.

Maybe he's crazy.

Maybe his wife told him to sell all of his "terrible" guns and he's doing the best he can. "Sorry dear, nobody is interested in buying my guns so I'll guess I'll just have to keep them.

Crazy like a fox perhaps.

Nah. :p

Flatfender said exactly what I was thinking.

His wife told him to sell them.

Although the back-channel sales is plausible.

I've gotten a giggle out of his prices for quite some time. I figured he'd get a clue and move on before now.

Jmurman,I am sure ive seen him post before, thought it was the 1911forum but i might be wrong!I am registered with all the major online forums and I know ive seen him.

I have a 3 screw Single Six that I'd gladly sell for $625.

700 Police for $1,030? I thought $680 was a bit steep.

But one of the guns he actually SOLD was a unissued Polish M44 for $206. I just bought one for $89!

I agree with Mike Irwin, He post a high price so a prespective buyer can contact him to haggle. In another TFL thread about him, Kidbillions was willing to consider offers emailed to him.

He oughta try to post an IN FOCUS picture, and then maybe he'd get a few responses...

Who would buy a horribly overpriced gun from a guy who can't even take a focused picture?

Well, I emailed him and got a response. His respone was:

"please make your best offer and i will give you an answer
thanks
Steve"

Seems he's just trying to get offline offers to avoid paying Gunbroker's fees.

I wonder if one could compile enough evidence against him to file a complaint with Gunbroker? As a new and honest seller there, this kind of dishonesty bugs me. Perhaps he's just smarter for finding a way around the system...not a way I would conduct any business of mine though.

I want to know where he finds all of those NIB smith and wesson's or are they just reblued old revolvers and that's the reason for the fuzzy pictures.
