Rifle primers in 10mm Auto

XDM-10 4.5" barrel Starline nickel cases.
Winchester primer was tried but would not seat anywhere near flush, it
stood up well above the case head. CCI #34 primers seated slightly below flush.
Shooting Chrony at 15 feet from gun. Temp 56* F. 180gr.plated Berry's bullet,
5.5 gr. HP-38

CCI 300

Low 936
High 978
Average 955
Ex spread 42
Std. dev. 15

CCI #34

Low 978
High 1017
Average 996
Ex spread 39
Std. Dev 12

I noticed right away that the #34 primed loads had noticably more recoil.
I have no idea why the Winchester primer did not seat lower, may look
into it later.

LR primers are 0.005"-0.008" taller than LP. I read 0.008" and measured two I have and came up with 0.005".

You may find a shouldered LR primer pocket tool that will deepen the LP pocket down to a LR spec.

Primer swaps are most common with SR to SP... as I believe those are the same height. Main difference is SR is usually made with thicker metal, and may possibly be a little hotter. Lots of people using SR primers in SP without incident. Would not use SP in SR.
