Rolli Hamilton- Pig Killer

I met Rolli Hamilton today. In the back of his truck was the head of a wild boar he had killed earlier this morning. It tipped the scales a little over 280 lbs. The tusks were a good 2 1/2-3" long. Rolli is a professional trapper and hunter of wild pigs for the US Govt. He works mainly at the Savannah River Site. A DOE weapons site located on the Savannah River near Aiken, South Carolina. The site is over 300 Sq Miles and almost 340,000 acres. Being a nuclear site they have very tite security and severely limited access. Almost no hunting. Rolli has killed 296 hogs this year.His weapon of choise is a 357 Mag S&W Revolver. He said he shot 158gr JHP ammo. Can you imagine killing hog and getting paid $85 a head. Dirty job ,but somebody has to do it

Doesn't sound like a bad Gig! I'm a bit amazed that he uses a Pistol but sounds like 296 Dead oinkers can't be wrong.

Does he first trap them and then shoot them with the .357 ???

I would think of a rifle as first choice for wild hogs.

I went hog hunting up near Dillon, in the Pee Dee swamp with a bunch of guys who have a club. I was backing up with a 500 plus pound hog coming my way dragging two dogs (he had already killed one dog by slapping it against a tree trunk), and all I had was a 357, and I was feeling severely underarmed. Fortunately one of those South Carolina boys got it right thru the heart from the other side. With a Bowie knife. That was about 9 years ago and I am still in awe.

Rolli stabs them too when the dogs are on them. He shoots them pinned up or over bait.
He uses just about any method
