am trying to mount a b-square scope mount on a rossi model 62 gallery gun (22-s/l/lr). This is similar to the shotgun aftermarket saddle mounts.
B-square sent me the proper new screw to replace the original takedown screw in the receiver. The new screw is about 0.10" longer than the original screw to allow for the thickness of the mount side plate.
My problem is how to get the original takedown screw out. It has a very small pin thru the threads that prevents it from coming our thru the bushing in the receiver. This pin is partially blocked by the bushing which prevents getting a punch in line with it.
How can I get this pin out?

Take down screw cross pin

One way to do it and since you are replacing it, it won't be to bad,

Is to using that bigger hammer, drive the takedown screw out with a good punch and big hammer, this will shear the ends off of the cross pin that keeps it in the trigger group at all times.

Then you can remove the cross pin from the screw and get, make or have made a new cross pin for when or if you want to do away with the scope mount.
