My dad and I were going through some things the other day and he brought out a Rossi Model 515 4" six shot .22 LR revolver. I gave a good once over and it was fairly tight, did not look like it had been shot much. It is a nice little revolver in the "J" frame, target adjustable sights with stainless rear and red insert on the front. It also has a frame mounted firing pin and transfer bar safety. Grip is similar to a Smith J frame square butt. The gun appears to be a knock-off of a S/W Kit gun. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this gun and if it can be expected to be a good shooter or not.

I have a 511 that predates it a little and I'm not sure if there is any physical difference in the models. I had one stolen and bought another used at a gun show. Both were very accurate guns. The DA trigger is pretty aweful, but the single action is very crisp and light. SA is the main deal with a kit gun anyway, but I do practice with the DA at the range.

Mine and most seem to have a little end shake built into the gun. Doesn't effect function, but it is a little irritating just playing with the gun. I've got many thousands of rounds through mine now and lord knows how many have been fed through it before I bought it and it's still the same, still accurate and still goes bang very reliably. It is not as prone to hangfires/misfires as some rimfires I've owned, good wide firing pin dent on the rim helps I think. It is reliable even with cheap federal bulk stuff. It will put 5 rounds of RWS target into 1-1.5" off sandbags at 25 yards and is about a 2" gun with the Federal stuff, pretty danged decent shootin' for a kit gun!

Mine wears a set of Pachmayr Compacs.
